Tile is the longest-lived roof we install

A properly installed clay tile roof can pass a century. What wears out first is almost never the tile — it is the underlayment beneath it, which is why a tile roof is often "relifted": the tile is carefully removed, new underlayment goes down, and the same tile goes back on.

It also breathes. The air gap under barrel tile lets heat move out rather than soaking into the attic, which matters more in Jacksonville than in most of the country.

The structural question you have to answer first

Clay and concrete tile are heavy — several times the weight of asphalt shingle per square. Not every house is framed to carry it. If yours was not, the options are an engineered retrofit or a synthetic tile that weighs a fraction as much. We check before we quote, not after.
