When guards are clearly worth it
Live oaks directly over the roof line. Pines anywhere near the house — pine needles are the single worst thing for a gutter, because they weave into a mat that water cannot get through. Two-storey homes where cleaning means a tall ladder and a bad afternoon.
When we would not bother
A single-storey house with nothing overhanging it, on a lot with no mature trees. You will clear it out once a year in twenty minutes and be fine. We would rather tell you that than sell you a product you do not need.
What no guard does
No gutter guard eliminates maintenance entirely, and any company promising that is overselling. Fine grit still gets through, and the top surface still needs an occasional brush. What guards eliminate is the packed mat of leaves and needles that causes overflow.
What’s covered
Ten years on our labor, and a 50-year limited — lifetime for the original homeowner — warranty on the shingle itself, backed by Owens Corning.
Full limited-warranty documentation is provided with every contract and governs in all cases.
